On Friday, March 6th, flower importers that are members of Globally Grown joined forces with Miami International Airport (MIA) in honor of International Women’s Day. Around 20,000 stems were donated and were given out to women throughout the airport. Both Globally Grown and MIA volunteers were seen handing out flowers to travellers and employees to honor and recognize women on this special holiday. Among the people that joined the celebration was Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez who was an active participant of the event. Using the hashtag #MIAflowers, volunteers and participants were encouraged to snap photos and post them on social media. This event not only showcased the importance of International Women’s Day but also emphasized the growing relationship MIA has with flower importers—MIA receives 91% of all international flower imports in the United States. International Flights and Flowers was the theme of the day!
